Create a 12-second vertical AI video for social

A short social video needs an immediate subject and one reason to keep watching. This exercise creates a 12-second vertical nature clip with an editorial caption, suitable for a brand’s calm morning post. The same structure can be reused for travel, lifestyle or a product detail, with different imagery and wording.

A short social video needs an immediate subject and one reason to keep watching. This exercise creates a 12-second vertical nature clip with an editorial caption, suitable for a brand’s calm morning post. The same structure can be reused for travel, lifestyle or a product detail, with different imagery and wording.

1. Choose one visible change

Use a simple moment: wind moves through golden flowers, the camera rises slightly, and the sky opens above them. Pair it with a short caption that describes an idea rather than inventing a statistic. Do not add unrelated subjects just to fill the timeline.

The photograph below is a composition reference, not a claim about generated output. You can start from your own photo, a licensed reference or text alone. Confirm upload rights before using someone else’s image.

Edit section Visual purpose Text
0–2 seconds Show the subject immediately One short opening line
2–9 seconds Let the movement develop No extra explanation needed
9–12 seconds Hold a clean final composition Optional brand name or next step

2. Generate for the destination frame

Open the social-video workspace. Choose a supported vertical ratio, or crop the reference vertically when the model uses native image framing. Keep the main subject away from the edge. The final 12-second edit may use two shorter clips or a trimmed longer one, depending on the selected model’s settings.

Golden wildflowers fill the lower half of a vertical frame on a quiet summer morning. A light breeze moves the stems naturally. The camera tilts upward slowly to reveal a clear blue sky while keeping a few flowers in the foreground. Soft natural light, gentle movement, realistic botanical detail, one continuous shot.

Generate one test and inspect the stems, horizon and camera motion. If flowers bend unnaturally, reduce the wind and simplify the scene. A second reference with a cleaner foreground may help more than a longer prompt.

3. Add the caption after generation

Use an editor to place high-contrast text over a quiet area of the frame. Keep it short, preview at phone size and check against the destination app’s overlays. There is no single safe-area measurement that works for every app and device; use the platform’s current preview tools.

Add licensed audio at a level that suits the post. If speech carries essential meaning, add readable captions. Watch once muted: the subject and message should still be clear.

4. Make a loop only if it improves the clip

Compare the first and last frames. A gentle dissolve or an edit at similar motion can make repetition feel intentional, but do not force a loop if the camera reveals a different view. Test the exported file itself; the editing timeline may hide a pause introduced during export.

For two versions, change one variable—opening line or opening crop—so you can learn something from the comparison. Do not promise that an AI clip will increase views or conversions without evidence from your own campaign.

5. Publish deliberately

Download the finished file, check its orientation and play it on a phone. Write the caption, attribution and AI disclosure required by the destination platform. If you use a connected social account, confirm the correct profile and review the publishing action. Available integrations and platform permissions determine whether direct publishing is possible.

Keep the prompt, reference source, exported version and quoted generation cost together. Reuse the structure for the next post, but adjust the subject and timing to the story rather than posting the same template unchanged.

Sources & verification
